About Idaka Danrin and the Concert

 

Idaka Danrin was established as a study hall (Danrin) for Nichiren Buddhist monks in the 8th year of the Tensho era (1580), located in present-day Sosa City, Chiba Prefecture. Among the numerous Danrins of Nichiren Buddhism, it can be considered the highest and largest academic institution. For 294 years until the abolition in the 7th year of Meiji (1874), it continuously produced capable monks and became the predecessor of Rissho University.

 

The Idaka Danrin Concert has been held every autumn since 1989, taking place at the national treasure "Iitaka Temple" within the Iitaka Danrin. Surrounded by the nature of the Satoyama and beyond the dignified cedar avenue, this stage is filled with the beauty of wooden architecture that has lingered for many years.
